George Brunnhoelzl III hails from a family of NASCAR drivers. Both his father and grandfather were drivers before him. Brunnhoelzl, who started the race second, took the lead from pole sitter Burt Myers on a Lap 26 restart. He held the lead until Myers was able to pass on a restart on lap 72 but he quickly resumed the top spot one lap later and clearly had the best car all night.
